District Autos is born out of passion to solve the challenges Toyota and Lexus owners face when trying to get some high quality parts for their vehicles. The focus for now, is ignition and steering parts. Led by visionary leader with a knack for technical details and functionality, District Autos parts stand out regarding high quality and durability.
In 2020, our founder started experiencing random misfires in his 2GR engine. The misfire codes jumped from one cylinder to the other, more like a moving target. Some ignition coils were replaced, but the issue continued. At a point, mechanics started suspecting the computer, aka brainbox. At this point, a trusted technician was consulted, who advised that all the spark plugs and ignition coils be replaced. With this, the mechanic was told specifically what to do. As is the norm, he firmly said that new ignition coils never work and went and bought tokunbo coils. New spark plugs had earlier been purchased.
The ignition coils and spark plugs were installed; the misfires went away. However, another issue was noticed – the vehicle’s fuel economy took a nose-dive. Two thousand Naira petrol that would normally last a week increased to almost three thousand Naira. Because petrol was still cheap them, the issue was overlooked. But by the following year, it got worse, and search for new ignition coils restarted. Nobody could get new and reliable ignition coils without asking for an arm and a leg. Noticing this challenge, a search for solution started! It was also noticed that most auto parts that are sold as tokunbo are actually cheap knockoffs that are made to appear to be tokunbo. They give up as quickly as they come.
The question came up – how do we get new parts that are as close to OEM as possible, without breaking the bank? It is common sense that one cannot prepare egusi soup just by eating one, meaning that you can’t duplicate same quality part by copying (reverse-engineering). First there is materials need, then the manufacturing process. But this is the common practice in many industries. After a lot of research which involved international partners, the answer became apparent – use only certified Tier 2 suppliers. What this means is that they have the necessary competence and experience to supply components that are installed in vehicles before they leave production lines. This has since become our philosophy!

Our parts fit, work and last. Vehicle owners have been beaten into thinking that a new part that lasts one year has done its job. With District parts however, it’s a different ballgame. We are redefining the difference between product warranty period and lifespan. While we offer a minimum of 12-month warranty on all our products, it’s just the beginning of your exciting journey with your purchase.
For now, District Autos produce ignition and steering parts for Toyota and Lexus vehicles, but working on getting into other high-pain parts like shock absorbers and suspension parts. We aim to be the top of mind brand when it comes to auto parts in Nigeria.
